Cheap labor
I notice noone is talking about landcare and its future ! Is it not just another quick fix skilled resource exploited for its goodwill rather its proper place and payment . Resist government exploitation and defend your right to be paid to make the tough choices and negiotiate good outcomes - and not be undermined by quackery on the environment.

We'll research it more said the health minister. Talk about missing the point Care isn't always rocket science and better care won't come out of " yet another investigation " but by abandoning some treasured treasury vices. http:/yesminister.blogspot.com .
I was disturbed to hear the ABC 774 participants today tending to limit the discussion about the origins of violence to external sources. Blame the TV . Blame the computer games . Blame our genes , blame someone and it will all go away ? Sure! Put the subject in the too hard basket - . Projection by ministers ...and ...you name it there is a bit of denial about?

Notably life matters mentor and mental health discussion on the same day remind us that 1hr a week well spent listening is better value for cutting edgecarethan most of the high input nannyism our communities get from the nine to fivers .http://cuttingedgecare.blogspot.com

Apparently there is a problem with providing health care in the bush . Rural issues don't seem to fit the market model . Sorry we will get back to you when our models work.

Lets have a good meddle with land use issues !
There will be no effective uproar by those who act as custodians for our resources - after all they
are irrelevant -at least politically ( http://fairgomate.blogspot.com)

Polys have finally found something that doesn't matter but on which they can pontificate .I say doesn't matter because all the talk of
cuttingedgeconservation( blogspot of that name ) "professionals" are just NOT important. After all they are not organised like medicos .
doesn't matter if the peasants and the professionals get cut by all the careless talk - they don't
matter politically-- they are just wingeing farmers and their suspect friends

Between Bob Brown and Mark
Latham they know what to do ( in tas yesterday) - close down use of the land - its that simple!
Problems with surgery you say? - lets have none of it !
Dead easy mate

Grow CPR grow Great to see Competition Policy Resistance association form this week in NSW -hope it will be the start of something much bigger . shake the comfortable out of their cosy complacency and conformity over competition policy and their undiscerning love of all kinds of cancerous instead of sustainable growths . "The CPR holds real concerns in a number of areas – in part

-Diminished professional services in rural areas;
-An undermining of professional accountability;
-A deterioration in customer service and duty of care, including erosion of standards of responsible service of alcohol;

Another great series MDA . Enjoyed Happys dogged wisdom profile ( The realist who cares ) Especially his line to the young fresh faced lad “ why don’t they understand about immunization – why don’t we go to the papers and give it to them straight about the risk ” circ 17dec
A ---They don’t want to be reasonable mate !”. Not the game there and …….

Not the game here either ……Out here in the bush either where risks and realities of interference are real too!.

The libs are out of touch and the interfererers are right to ask for big picture rather than more of the petty politics of twin ledger accountancy . Sound health care is not driven from behind by reactive paradigm of purchaser and provider - economic models of mismanagement and misapprehension more like it . Abbott--you need just one lateral thinker in Canberra .You have got too many yes men!

Related rural matter
Can we please get some attention from ABC journalists to dig deeper into all the green quackery and make the same challenge on behalf of competent people in the bush who remain totally unrepresented .

After all there is no MDA for competent risk assessing surgeons of the environment who get cut down daily by the lumbering logomachy of the unencumbered and growing legal ( and often compliant media) and legislative machinery designed to “help” .

Help whom ? see

Best Intention is not enough . It not only cuts- its wounds
don't always heal and we just get waste !

Did you know that Don Quixote has found a friend?Together they form a formidable party . Quick draw McGraw and his many media friends are driving sound professional carers mad with their fast horse fanaticsm. The greatest evil can be done in the name of the best intention (B Shaw). Even Attenborough is concerned that our caring is out of balance with the real care balance issues ( Enough rope ABCTV 22nd september)
Caring in the real world where predation exists is no simple matter . So why care at all Is our idealism wrong ?
If guilt is driving us to act quickly too,…. that too is wrong?
Lets be practical and effective about this, because true caring is both of the former. Not one of us can care responsibly for more than a few things close to us . The effective tradition of caring in our culture ( one that maximizing choice and involvement , is one that takes the reality of suffering seriously , and seeks to redeem it by being responsible for the few things in our control. Read The Jericho road story by the real radical in our history.
